As I mentioned yesterday, the new Coalesce52 project blog is up and running now with work from the first couple weeks of the year. As I continue to shoot and post images through that site, I would like to point out that I will be making every effort to keep up with this blog as well - not only with photos from my 52 week project (though I'm sure you'll see many) but also with my usual menagerie of instant films and the occasional digital image.
I will say though that one of the perks of this new project, despite it's time consumption and demand for constantly finding new subjects, is that it does offer me a much broader selection of images to share through this blog. Already, in just 4 weeks, I've shot three different cameras and four different film types - a trend that I hope continues throughout the project allowing me stretch into even more film types I may not be as familiar with.
All of the images that I'm sharing here today were taken with Kodak TMax 100 using my Canon Canonet QL17 Rangefinder for Week 1 of the Coalesce52 project. This is the second roll of film that I have run thought this camera (you can see the first here) and I am again quite happy with the results.
The TMax 100 that I shot these images with was a 36 exposure roll and I ended up with quite a few images that I liked. The high exposure count of some of the 35mm films that I'll be shooting this year will be really helpful when it comes to populating content across multiple sites. I also wanted to point out that these particular images were all shot right around dusk with very little daylight left in the sky. Despite this being a 100 ISO film it handled the low lighting conditions quite well - though I'm sure the Canonet's f/1.7 lens didn't hurt with that either.

A week or so ago I posted some images from the DUMBO area of Brooklyn that I shot with my Yashica D and some Ilford 100 Delta Pro 120 film. Today I have one more image from that same roll of film that is from a slightly different area of Brooklyn known as Park Slope. After a short subway ride back from Brooklyn Bridge Park we stopped to shoot a few frames of this Eagle Clothing Co. sign that we had seen looming over the area on our many subway trips in and out of the city. From what I've read this sign is something of an Iconic landmark to the area for a previously well known clothing manufacturer that has since gone by the wayside. Though the building is now a giant U-Haul facility the sign remains. As a fan of old signage and american, I, for one, am happy that some people still appreciate and leave these monolithic remnants of another time standing.
Some time ago (around June) I spent a couple of days in the NYC and Brooklyn area. I've posted some photos from that trip before, but, just recently got back my final roll of film from being developed after hanging onto it for way too long. These particular photos were shot with one of my favorite MF cameras, the Yashica D, on some Ilford 100 Delta Pro 120 film.
After a long day of rain in the city we decided to jump off the subway on our way back to our hotel in Brooklyn and check out Brooklyn Bridge Park and the DUMBO area. Luckily, it stopped raining just about the time we arrived which (finally) gave us a chance to wander about and take a few photos. I shot almost an entire roll right there in the park, but, these are three of my favorites. Enjoy.
Simply stated, this is a continuation of yesterday's post finishing out my Coney Island images with the Canon FTb and Rollei Retro 100 film. Be sure to check out Part 1 if you haven't already. Enjoy.
You might remember back in May that I went to New York for a couple of days for some business meetings, and, that while I was there I got the chance to go to one of my favorite places - Coney Island. I've already posted a couple rounds of photos from that trip through Coney (here and here) but I think this round is actually my favorite. I don't like to post too many photos at the same time, so, I've decided to break this post into two days worth of photos.
All of today and tomorrow's photos come from my Canon FTb and a roll of 35mm Rollei Retro 100 that I picked up in New York at the Lomography store. Rollei is most definitely one of my favorite 35mm black and white films that I've shot with to date and previously the Rollei Retro 400s 120 version of this film gave me some of my favorite medium format film images (the Trikes and Edgewater at Night). I'm now very tempted to buy some of Rollei's 4x5 sheet film to see how it compares.

Part 2.
Back in June I posted a couple of photos of my brothers kids after they were in town for a visit. As I mentioned then, the youngest, Samantha, didn't get her photo posted because I didn't attempt to photograph her with my Crown Graphic as I figured it'd be nearly impossible to get her to sit still long enough. I did, however, snap a couple shots of her with my 35mm Canon FTb using some Rollei Retro 100 that I had loaded up from my earlier trip to New York. I'm in the process of scanning, resizing and saving all of those images now. So, in the meantime, I figured I would quickly share one of my favorite image of Samantha. Enjoy.
