Impossible Project PX600 Black Frame - Mint Close Up Lens - Photography Still Life 2

Following up my post from Monday, here are a few more shots using the Mint Close-Up Lens in tandem with a pack of Impossible Projects PX600 Black Frame film. No real theme this time, just a few things from around the house. Enjoy.

Impossible Color Film For SX70 - Still Life

A couple weeks back, I shared a photo that I shot with a model using Impossible's new Color Film for SX70 (seen here) - And today, I thought I'd share some still life set ups from the remainder of that pack of film that I took this weekend. With these photos, I really wanted to see what kind of color I could eek out of this newest formula since I haven't shot with it much. I was really pleased with some of the results that I got.

I should also point out that all of these images were shot using the new Mint Lens Set for SX70 - a neat little attachment that allows you to use different lenses/filters on your SX70. The full set consists of the lens holder, the Full-Frame Fisheye lens, Yellow Filter K2, Blue Filter 80B, a Neutral Density filter and the Close-Up Lens. While I haven't played with all of the different filters yet, I am very much enjoying the Close-up Lens (which is what I used on all three of these images). It's really opened up a new world of possibilities by allowing me to fill the frame in situations that I never would have been able to before (unless of course I purchased the old, harder to find, more expensive SX70 accessory kit and close up lens attachment). Over my next few packs of film, I hope to get the chance to work with a few of the other filters as well and post a little more about the Mint Lens Set and some of the things that I like and don't like about it. Stay tuned.

Forgotten Impossible Project PX600 Color Protection - Paint

Impossible Project PX680 Color Protection in an SX70 Sonar

It's been a while, but I used to post my lost and forgotten photo's all the time. This particular image is one that's been sitting on my table at home since the beginning of the year. While shooting with an artist and illustrator for my Roll-A-Week project I snapped a couple quick instant photos as well. I distinctly remember not liking this image, that it was washed out and just overall bland. Now, probably some six months later, it's a pretty nice image. Some people might complain about the constantly changing effects and appearances that some of Impossible Projects films have, but, in cases like this you end up really appreciating it. The film wasn't bad, and neither was the photo, it just needed a little time...

Expired Polaroid Type 57 - Graflex Crown Graphic - Still Life

Slowly but surely I've been working my way through the 4x5 sheets of expired Polaroid Type 57 that I have. While I hate to see my stash of this scarce film slowly start to dwindle, I keep reminding myself that it's only going to degrade more and more the longer I hold onto it. If I truly want to shoot and enjoy this film, there's no better time than right now.

Shot with a Graflex Crown Graphic these still life's were all taken at my parents house this past weekend. The place is full of things reminiscent to what you might find in my house... there's just more of it. It's pretty much made for shooting still life set-ups. Enjoy.

Impossible Project PX70 Color Protection Formula - Food Photography

This past weekend as part of my Roll-A-Week project I came into the studio to work on some tabletop food photography set-ups. I've always been a fan of simple, well-lit food photography and have lately been reading a few different blog posts that highlight some easy available/window light setups and so I thought I'd take an afternoon pretending to be a food photographer.

Still life and composition is something that I've always explored when shooting instant film, and since it's been so long since I've shot with any of the Impossible Project's films in any serious way it seemed natural to bring along my SX-70 Sonar to shoot each of my setups  alongside my roll of film. The images that I have here today were all taken with the SX-70 and Impossible's PX70 Color Protection Formula instant film. Each was left unshielded out of camera and developed face down in a relatively comfortable temperature (somewhere around 68 degrees fahrenheit). Enjoy.

Impossible Project PX680 American Woods - Spring Daffodil

Today I have a really quick post of an image that I took late last week when the weather was particularly warm out. This photo (actually taken at the same time as this photo) was taken with a Polaroid SX-70 Sonar using Impossible Projects PX680 American Woods film, which is probably one of my favorites special editions that they've come out with to date. I've already gone through one of my three packs (with mediocre results at best... that being my fault) but look forward to using the other two soon as the weather continues to get warmer. Enjoy.

Expired Polaroid Type 57 - Graflex Crown Graphic - Avocado

Admittedly, I've not been working on this blog nearly as much as I used to or as much as I'd like to be. The year long Roll-A-Week project that I'm currently doing (Coalesce52) has taken up a lot of my free time in terms of shooting, scanning, editing, and posting. Aside from that, I'm amidst a 30 day Paleo food plan (no sugar, no grain/gluten, no legumes, no dairy, no alcohol) which requires me to be in the kitchen quite a bit. Last night, thinking of how long it's been since I've posted here, I decided to take something that I've been working with a lot in the kitchen and photograph it in a simple, still life kind of way.

Without further ado, here's the Avocado. Photograph taken on expired Polaroid Type 57 with a Graflex Crown Graphic using available window light (about f/4.7 at 1/10th).
